Steps are not being counted for me

The last few days my steps haven’t been counted accurately. The app is up to date and I’ve restarted my phone. I’m afraid to uninstall the app because i haven’t connected it to my Facebook (and i don’t really want to) so I’m worried I’ll lose all my progress. Help would be appreciated!
