Please make the game great

There is a few easy things to make the game actually great. Please consider it.

  1. Talents don’t make any sense. They cost more and more, yet give the same values. Also, there is nothing of substance after layer 4 in class talents. Maybe something like Path of Exile skill tree would make it enjoable to level up.

  2. There is hundreds of skills (not really hundreds but you get the point), yet you can only use 3. My suggestion is to implement at least 2-3 passive slots (for passive skills like def or dodge or whatever) in addition to the 2-3 which will be active. Also add more legendary skills (Brutal legendary would be nice). This would give a much wider area of combinations.

  3. There isn’t a lot to do in breaks from focus sessions other then use the little money you earned to level up your stats or gear. If you finished time rift you are stuck with getting to the next altar boss or reading 1 minute of storyline. Adding other gamemodes like time rift or raid would make it way more fun.

  4. I have seen a discussion about PVP from a few years back, where a mod I guess said it is in the works for the future, but it’s been quite some time since the post. Any updates on that?

  5. Market is mostly useless. I understand you want people to spend gems, but a wider market (other then gems for x, or dream dust for skill book boxes) would make it an actual feature for the game.

  6. Something that might need more work, but I believe that many people would enjoy is adding a few more classic RPG classes (assassin, ranger). This isn’t necessary, but would be fun.

  7. A wiki page with information players need to not make mistakes (list of all skills, max level, stats max level, glyps, talents, event schedule, etc.)

–>>If you are a player and see this, please give your own feedback and suggestions too. Let’s see if we can make at least the first 3 happen. All 7 would be the dream. Cheers!

Hi,

Thank you for the detailed feedback. The team is currently busy working on other projects. We’ll discuss every suggestion on your list and hope we can come back to the game as soon as we can.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!

YO VIK! Reviving this because this needs more visibility and more loving.

  1. Talents - agreed. Talent tree needs a rework to make it more worthwhile and also attainable, given that you have the same tokens required for improving primary/core, class, and skills. Why not change to a talent web with branching, grouped options?
  2. Skills - agreed.
  3. Gameplay loop in between time rifts - agreed. I LOVE Time Rifts and basically everything else is meh and rote for my interaction.
  4. Market - agreed. There should be options to trade in-game currencies, purchase specific materials and items, and the rotating market should include significant deals to incentivize players to spend their earnings (or purchase packs and passes).
  5. Classes - agreed. More depth and diversity would keep things fresh and incentivize players to experiment with builds.
  6. Wiki page - agreed. There are not enough instructions in many areas, with stats, glyphs, and gameplay mechanics particularly lacking.

My adds:
Community interactions (increase) - basically minimal, only in Raid chat, which no one uses.

Monetization - I understand Focus Quest being a free app and monetization being a core part of the game and have bought a few packs in support of the team because I genuinely love the experience, especially when compared to apps like Forest. Despite this, I think the monetization is starting to impact the positive reinforcement of what is ultimately a Pomodoro timer. Raids have so little depth/interactivity to them for how long it takes to get torches and are simply dice rolls for loot on a extended timescales (35-days) and the real rewards are locked away behind the Raid Pass.

Same with Time Rift - I know one of the developers provided a marketing fluff response about why there is a delay between time rifts but ultimately, it’s to incentive the purchasing of diamonds, and that’s on top of the real rewards also being locked away behind another pass.

Ultimately, I think developers can keep the monetization as it is but make Focus Quest more engaging (add gameplay mechanics that don’t have a seedy layer of monetization and gambling in addition to the monetized mechanics) across the board for myself, other current users, and the infinite number of potential users that would flock over from other monetized Pomodoro timer/productivity apps while also making MORE money.

I love Focus Quest but am starting to feel like a lot of that love stems from not having an equal or better alternative that scratches the progression itch and feels rewarding.
